Tax Exempt
Government agencies, schools, qualified nonprofits, and resellers can order without sales tax when their exemption certificate is on file with us.
Who qualifies
- Federal, state, county, and municipal government agencies
- K–12 public school districts and accredited charter schools
- Public and private colleges and universities
- 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
- Resellers with a valid state-issued resale or seller's permit
- Specific other organizations or transactions per state law
Eligibility and required certificate types vary by state. We accept exemption documentation issued by any U.S. state where your organization holds valid exempt status.
How to register your exemption
You can register your tax-exempt status in two ways:
- Email your certificate to csr@axiscoreonline.com along with your name, organization, account email, and shipping state(s). We'll add it to your account within one business day and send confirmation.
- Attach to your purchase order. If you're submitting a PO, include the certificate as a separate page. We'll process the PO tax-exempt automatically and keep the certificate on file for future orders.
Once registered, your future orders will be processed tax-exempt as long as the certificate remains valid. We'll contact you before any expiration date to renew.
What we need on the certificate
For a tax-exempt certificate to be accepted, it must show:
- The organization's legal name and address (matching the ship-to address)
- The type of exemption (government, nonprofit, resale, etc.)
- The state-issued exemption or seller's permit number
- The issuing state agency or department
- An effective date and (where applicable) an expiration date
- Signature of an authorized officer of the organization
Generic claims of tax-exempt status without supporting documentation cannot be honored.
Multi-state buyers
If your organization purchases shipments to multiple states, we need a separate certificate for each state where you're claiming exemption — sales tax rules apply at the destination state, not the buyer's home state.
The Multistate Tax Commission's Uniform Sales & Use Tax Resale Certificate is accepted in the states that participate in that program.
If sales tax was charged in error
If you placed an order before registering your exemption certificate and tax was charged, email csr@axiscoreonline.com with:
- The order number(s)
- Your exemption certificate
- A note confirming the order was made for tax-exempt purposes
We'll review and process a refund of the tax portion. Refunds are typically issued within 7–14 business days.
Sales tax holidays
Several states observe annual sales tax holidays — typically for school supplies, computers, or emergency preparedness items — during which qualifying purchases are exempt from state sales tax regardless of organization status. We honor active state sales tax holidays automatically at checkout for orders shipping to those states during the holiday window.
